Isaac was a badass in Dead Space 2 and that's because you know he was afraid of the necromorphs and his situation but he soldiered on regardless. Isaac didn't turn into a badass, he turned into a simp who spends the first two acts of the game getting bullied by characters who fit right at home with an over-the-shoulder cover shooter. Lastly, your point about Isaac turning into a badass to fit with the faster-paced action doesn't work. Furthermore, you're not required to aim for the limbs like you were in prior games. Dead Space 3 ignores this and gives you the military engine as a one-size-fits all kinda deal. Plasma Cutter for precision aiming, Force Gun for crowd control, Contact Beam for damage. Like the classes in Team Fortress 2, the weapons all feel very situational. It did this with its weapon and enemy design. I could forgive DS3 being an action game but there's just one thing: it's not a good action game.ĭead Space was a shooter to begin with but it started off by subverting the shooter genre. You're gonna dissapoint a lot of the original fans if you did this. The best analogy I can make is if TellTale said "Alright, TWD season 4 should play more like Halo". What happened was that EA told Visceral to turn their survival-horror title into Gears of War, which by design, shouldn't work to begin with. Had Dead Space 3 been its own game and not a sequel, it probably could've stood up on its own.
#DEAD SPACE 1 DLC REVIEW SERIES#
What made Dead Space 3 the worst in the series was how far it deviated from its original identity, trying to meet EA's ridiculous sales quota. I think MandeloreGaming said it best "it's an ok game after some really spectacular ones". %has a feeling of shitstorm headed his way% Secondly, the whole lovestory thing, or, at least, for me, the drama parts and Ellie going to "damsel-in-distress"-style personality is pretty dumb and. Firstly, game's just too generous on giving you ammo and medkits and resources. There are two points though I understand and recall. Why hate it then.? Because it makes game easy? Then, let's hate normal and easy difficulty settings! Let's have only one option: hardcore mode. It's not added at the cost of removing old aiming option. have you, like, noticed.? The aiming option in the game's settings? There is an option for classic off-centre realistic aim.įPS aiming is for those who want less hardcore-style gameplay. Necromorphs attacking you in small groups would seem somewhat illogical in such conditions, don't you think? Or would you rather enjoy him being a whining pussy, constantly weeping: "Oh no, not this, not again."? Plus, the game takes place on a (technically) necromorph planet, completely overrun with a necromorph outbreak. He has to get some experience in taking necromorphs out. This makes them (and the game overall) less scaring, as we know what to do: go for the limbs, don't get yourself cornered, etc. Firstly, Isaac - and we - have already faced necromorphs twice. Did I miss anything?įirst thing's first, I see switching to FPS-style gameplay with more enemies and less scaring moments in the game as natural evolution of the franchise, at least with the same protagonist. I see that everyone seems to hate a number of things in DS3: faster, FPS-style pacing of the game with tons of enemies, less 'scare' moments, arcade-FPS-style centered aiming, dumb lovestory, Isaac turning into an "fps-badass"-style character. And I played the games in the right order, DS3 was not my first game in the franchise. To those who are going to say that I've probably not played DS1 and DS2.
